The Noble Tribe of Taylor of Garner in North Carolina represented here by HE Lord David, Count of Moncrif. TAYLOR was from the occupational name 'the tailor' a cutter of cloth. A very common surname found early in Scottish records. The name is rendered in Latin Documents as Cissor. Alexander le Tayllur was valet in the service of Alexander III in 1276, and is probably the first on record in Scotland, John le Taillur is recorded as having held the mill of Selkirk in 1292.
